Round 5: Munguia comes out trying to come forward on Zon, having much less success fighting on the back foot. Left hand from Munguia lands up top. Zon throws a combination and lands a straight left at the end of it. Another left lands for Zon with Munguia in the corner. Hard right lands to the body that staggers Zon! Munguia tries to follow up but can't find the follow up to put him down. Munguia 10-9, 49-46.
Round 4: Munguia starts the round with a combination that ends downstairs to the body. Straight right from Munguia lands up top. Zon standing his ground and lands some shots sporadically. Two punches from Zon land as Munguia gets backed into a corner. Zon lands a hrd right hook up top. Both fighters exchanging shots and Munguia looks like he's not taking these shots so well. Munguia lands a couple of clean shots down the stretch which edges the round towards him, for me. Munguia 10-9, 39-37.
Round 3: Right hands from Munguia continue to find the body of Zon. More body shots seems to be taking a toll on Zon who is starting to defend it a little more deliberately. Zon tries to mount his own offense behind a series of awkward punches. Hard left lands hard to the body of Zon and backs him off. Straight right lands hard to the body again, Zon tries to throw a series of mostly ineffective punches. Three punches from Munguia land on the face of Zon. Check hook lands clean for Munguia this time, but Zon is walking through the head shots and lands a hard uppercut as he presses Munguia to the ropes. Munguia 10-9, 29-28.
Round 2: Munguia standing his ground a little more in this round and starts an attack which prompts a counter attack from Zon. Zon lands a right hook and a body shot but he's still using mauling tactics to muscle Munguia. Hard shot looks like it landed really well on Munguia and did some damage. Right hook from Zon gets in. Munguia turns Zon and lands a solid body shot. Counter left from Zon lands, Munguia lands a clean one back. Zon comes forward and presses Munguia to the ropes. Hard from Munguia. Stream went down but I think it was a Zon round, 19-19.
Round 1: Munguia comes out a little defensively, laying back and feeling out Zon to start the fight. Hard right lands to the body for Munguia. Another solid right from Munguia lands hard to the body of Zon. Munguia targets both sides of the body this time and Zon tries to maul him in response and it sparks a warning from the referee about the dirty tactics. Head clash from both fighters as they look to attack at the same time. Zon was the aggressor but the body punching from Munguia carried for me. Munguia 10-9.
IMMEDIATE REACTION: Questionable stoppage on a cut over Rojas' eye which caused the doctor recommended stoppage, but I admittedly am no doctor. I have, however, seen countless fights and cuts and it didn't seem particularly bad. That said, Rojas was getting overwhelmed by Espinoza despite doing his best to fight back. Not many will argue even it the stoppage might raise a few eyebrows.
Round 3: Blandon comes out trying to throw whatever he can to make an impression but it's clear that none of them are really doing much of any damage. Blandon cut over his eye and the referee is calling a timeout to have it looked at. Doctor recommends a stoppage which seems bizarre given the damage that's visible. Espinoza TKO-3.
Round 2: Long left hand lands for Espinoza to start the second. Espinoza targets the body and then brings the punches back to the head. Blandon lunges in behind a few punches and lands a couple. Hard right lands to the body for Espinoza now. Espinoza is landing the much heavier power, but Blandon scores intermittently. Espinoza 10-9, 20-18.
Round 1: Espinoza comes out and lands a couple of punches at center ring and the height difference is quite noticeable. Long punches from Espinoza comes as Blandon is forced to literally leap in to try to land some punches. Sweeping righ thnad from Espinoza lands. Baldon lands a couple of shots but without much power on them. Clean left hok lands to the body for Espinoza, then a right hand downstairs shortly after. Espinoza goes right back down to the body as he tries to keep Blandon from being able to move around so much. Blandon under heavy fire early. Espinoza 10-9.
Immediate Reaction: Destructive performance by Tsutsumi, who didn't waste a second or have a second thought about going straight after Rojas from the opening bell. With it being clear Rojas couldn't get Tsutsumi's respect, the fight was essentially over. Tsustumi stalked, landed heavy power shots, and dropped Rojas twice in the second before having to be saved by the referee. A step up for Tsutsumi seems appropriate given the dominating effort.
Round 2: Hard left hands land for Tsutsumi, then a third just moments later. Rojas really under pressure and NOW A FORTH LEFT DROPS ROJAS! Tsutsumi wants to end this right now if he can manage it. Rojas along the ropes and trying his best to counter but he's taking punches back and he literally melts into a heap in the corner for a second knockdown! Rojas gets up and continues to try his best to fight back but he's eating power shots to the head at will. The referee sees enough and stops it. Tsutsumo TKO-2 (2:27)!
Round 1: Tsutsumi comes out on the attack immediately, applying tremendous pressure as he looks to inflict serious damage on Rojas early. Rojas tries to fight Tsutsumi off but gets caught with a bigger shot during an exchange. Strong jab lands for Tsutsumi. It's clear early that if Rojas can't get Tsutsumi to respect his power, well, it's going to be a long (or very short) contest. Rojas goes down on what's ruled a slip during an exchange. Tsutsumi comes right on the attack and lands some heavy shots as he tries to press the advantage. Tsutsumi 10-9.
